I’ve tried looking online but I can’t find anything which will go from a shaver-port to a European plug, only ones which will go from a shaver-port to a UK style plug.

Also, does anyone know if getting a shaver to UK plug adaptor would work if then put into a UK to EU adaptor?

I recently bought a rechargeable toothbrush to learn a little bit more about Induction Power Transfer. But upon looking inside the base unit (the part you set the tooth brush on), I find that it is surrounded by this tan plastic-like stuff. It’s REALLY pissing me off. I can tell that it was poured into the case as a liquid, then it hardened. I have also found this crap inside of a Neon Sign Transformer, with only a small heat sink protruding from the stuff. Is there any kind of easy way to remove this stuff? I spent about 2 hours trying to dig through this stuff, and unintentionally destroyed at least one component. Any suggestions?

I recently asked a question regarding getting access to a rechargeable toothbrush circuit (the one contained in the ‘base’). It seems it will be much more work than it’s worth to get access to it. I’ve done some research trying to find a nice circuit that will show/teach me a little more on how induction power transfer works. I know a lot about the general idea of induction power transfer, but would like to learn a lot more.

If you know of any sites or pages that go into some detail (it doesn’t have to be insane detail, just a little), please post something in your answer. I’m not really looking for anything high powered, it’s in fact the opposite. I’m looking for something that would give me around 2 to 3 volts. Any answers are appreciated. Thanks!

Sonicare instructs to replace brush after use into charger & states the brush will keep a charge for a week (sounds somewhat conflicting/contradictory to me).

An Amazon user says he: Unplugs his brush between full charges & runs it down to complete discharge. Even though rechargeable battery technology has reached the point where the "memory effect" we used to experience with the old Ni-Cad batteries isn’t much of an issue anymore, I think this approach tends to keep the batteries conditioned & gets you a bit more mileage out of your brush handle. The sacrifice you make with this approach is that last brushing as the batteries drain to empty will likely be incomplete. So trot out the old manual standby to finish and then plug in the Sonicare to charge up. With my new Essence, I find I can go about a week this way, brushing twice a day.

Your best advice between the two?

For example, the Sonicare Toothbrushes, when the rechargeable battery gets old, the whole thing is thrown out. Sending a lot of plastic into the environment. Why doesn’t Sonicare, produce a model that we can open to replace just the battery, when the time to replace battery comes around?
In the case of Hair Dryers, virtually all hair dryers on the market are energy hogs. Notice how the lights dim every time you turn on a hair dryer?
If there were a choice of models, some with a lower power consumption rate and a lower heat setting (instead of hot and very hot). Would make a great improvement on local power use in every metropolitan community.
For example, I used to have a very old model hair dryer, that had a dialed variable speed which made the dryer run at a low speed and lower temperature (hence lower use of power). died after 17 years of use. When I went to shop for a replacement, I found that the majority if hair dryers are virtually identical. There are so many that are basically the same, except for different colours and designer logos printed on them. But they all run at high speed/high output & drain a lot of power off of the grid.

If hair dryers didn’t have to use so much power, the Grid wouldn’t have to have so much standby power on – stand-by. Every time a bunch of folks suddenly turn on a bunch of hair dryers, is an abrupt drain on the grid, what happens when whole neighborhoods suddenly turn on their hair dryers – sudden power demand on the grid. Which draws power from where else – carbon producing generation plants.

Why aren’t manufacturers making more green environmentally conscious products, instead of producing the same old environmentally unfriendly polluting wasteful products?
